The new water sports centre at the Steigenberger Resort -
KBC has opened its new water sports centre in Ras Soma, near Soma Bay, in cooperation with the 5-star resort. A dreamlike spot, located three quarters of an hour south of Hurghada. The impressive centre is located around 800 metres below the hotel's beach area and offers a private water sports area. Known for its KBC quality, the new water sports centre will offer kitesurfing and wingfoil training, rental of the premium brand F-ONE and storage. Windsurfing courses for children and catamaran training and hire are also planned for the future. Anyone familiar with KBC El Gouna can look forward to a warm welcome from some well-known and long-standing KBC employees at KBC Ras Soma.
SOMABAY
Soma Bay impresses with its fine, white sandy beach and the wonderful turquoise blue, crystal clear water. Due to the excellent conditions, the area has developed into a Mecca for water sports enthusiasts. The popular holiday destination is flourishing and is well on its way to becoming the next flagship on Egypt's east coast. In the coming years, a visionary project will take shape here, developing the land between the Steigenberger Hotel and the KBC Watersports Centre into a diverse landscape of lively marinas, lagoons, tasteful residential parks and villas set amidst lush gardens.
REVIER & WIND
A constant north wind blows in the large bay, enhanced by the nearby Red Sea, making the area very wind-safe and offering fantastic flat-water conditions. Even in strong winds, the water in the bay remains relatively calm, offering perfect learning and practice conditions for freestyle and manoeuvre training. Wingfoilers also get their money's worth here. At the KBC Centre, the wind blows from side-offshore, seasonally also side-shore directions, but first blows about a kilometre across the sea before it hits the KBC Centre and is then constant and unvortexed. The KBC has several boats in operation - to assist with instruction and for the safety of the kiters and wingfoilers.
HOTEL
