KBC Sicilia is located directly on a 150-meter-wide private beach—a unique, beautiful sandy beach on the Lo Stagnone lagoon. Here you will find the kite school (VDWS licensed), the rental shop (F-ONE Premium Equipment), the store, and the bar. The shop sells neoprene clothing, shoes, caps, Lycra suits, sunglasses, sunscreen, and kite leggings. At the bar, you can buy delicious daily specials and cold drinks.

If you would like to engage in kitesurfing on our beach, there is a small service/beach usage fee. This includes:

• Our professional KBC team of instructors will help you launch and land your kite and are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
• Use of kite pumps with all common adapters
• Use of and water access at our private kite beach
• Shaded area at the station in the palm garden and at the tent
• Canopy beds (for a small fee)
• Showers (€1 outdoor shower/€2 warm indoor shower)and toilets
• Free parking at the spot

If your companion does not engage in kiting, they are still welcome to spend time at the KBC and can use the facilities free of charge.

How to find us on the beach

You can find us north of Villa Birgi / Heron's Bay / Santa Maria, right on the waterfront. You can recognize our kite spot by the red KBC flags and the F-ONE Bandits. You can recognize our team by their blue KBC shirts.

Safety

The municipality has established a rule that watersports centers are not allowed to conduct lessons when wind speeds exceed 25 knots. In strong wind conditions, the center reserves the right to rent equipment exclusively to kite surfers with sufficient experience.

Kitesurfers and wingfoilers (whether with their own or rental equipment) must have a safe riding level and be able to perform self-rescue. A rescue boat is not available.

Wearing a helmet and life jacket is mandatory at the Lo Stagnone lagoon. Helmets and life jackets are therefore included in rentals. Kitesurfers with their own equipment can rent a helmet and life jacket from us for €8 per day.

Kite beach & area

The KBC Sicily Center with kite & wingfoil school is located directly on the spot with a large private kite area on the only sandy beach of the Lo Stagnone lagoon. The VDWS kite school is located at the northern end of the lagoon, upwind from the other numerous small schools on the lagoon.
The huge, shallow lagoon of Lo Stagnone is the largest standing area in Europe and offers advantages for kitesurfers of all levels: Here you have plenty of space on the water. Thanks to the ideal upwind location, no one gets in your way. When starting, you can comfortably align your kite and board while standing. The smooth, non-wavy water makes kitesurfing comfortable and offers ideal conditions for beginners, intermediate surfers, and freestylers. The ground is sandy or loamy – there are virtually no stones. The wind usually (70%) blows steadily from the northwest (sideshore on our beach) and is thermally reinforced – the "Termico." However, the lagoon also works with all other wind directions and offers around 200 kiteable days a year.
If you want to engage in kitesurfing with your own kite equipment, there is a small service/beach usage fee.

Sea Anemones – we recommend leggins

In the lagoon of Lo Stagnone there are occasional sea anemones during the summer months. These are flower-living flower animals, with a tubular body with a sticky disc at the bottom. In contact with human skin, they can cause local skin irritation with redness and swelling of the skin in very sensitive people. The nettles tingle easily, in a few cases it burns something. Fenistil gel helps here. Or you are careful and wear straight: We recommend a long-legged thin wetsuit or in summer neoprene / Lycra leggings. You can also buy these in our shop on site.

Activities

Sicily’s economy has a focus on agriculture and fishing. Tourism is another significant source of income, but here you’ll still find it in its original form —in other words, not over-development but simple, rustic architecture in a region inhabited by a proud, spirited people. This Italian island awaits the interested visitor with a amazing wealth of culture: its eventful history has left impressive traces of Greek and Arab culture from ages past. The far west of Sicily is extremely scenic. Sun-deprived Northern Europeans look forward to spring, which arrives very early here: the almond trees burst into bloom in late February and the hills are transformed into glowing orange groves. Nature lovers will certainly not be disappointed. The region is particularly noted for its chequered salt pans. Here, the sea water evaporates and crystallises into “white gold”.

• Indulge in a 7-course tasting menu at the winery and sample wines and typical Sicilian delicacies.
• Visit the idyllic, emerald bays north of Trapani.
• Go on an excursion (by car or by cable car) to the picturesque mountain village of Erice.
• Take a boat tour to the island of Favignana, well worth the visit for its gorgeous beaches and bays. You can also go diving here.
• A boat tour to Isola di Mothia in the kiting lagoon, a visit to the excavation site and to the museum.
• Spend a day at the Puzziteddu surf beach and its white sand.
• Visit Palermo: the historic district with museums, old palaces, street markets and Sicilian flair. Highlights: Capella Pallatina, Cattedrale di Palermo, Teatro Massimo and the Botanical Garden.
• A stroll through the town of Trapani (20 minutes by car from the Kite Centre)
• A stroll through the town of Marsala (15 minutes by car from Villa Vajarassa): San Tomaso Cathedral, the Archaeological Museum, rustic restaurants and the fish market (noted for its nightlife in the evenings)
• The natural hot springs in Alcamo (approximately 40 minutes by car)
• Hire bicycles or kayaks in San Vito Lo Capo and explore the area, with wine tasting opportunities not far away.
• The region to the north-east of Trapani (San Vito lo Capo) is a well-known climbing area.
• If you’re interested in culture, be sure to visit Syracuse, Segesta and Selinunte. The Greek Theatre of Syracuse was once considered the greatest theatre of Greek antiquity.

E-Bike Rental

At the kiter villa Vajarassa fancy e-bikes are waiting for you in the rental. For 25€ a day you can use them to cruise around the island or just to the kite beach. You simply book the rental with the team on site.

Our tip: Rental Car

In Sicily, we recommend renting a car, because this way you are mobile and independent and can explore the colourful life of Sicily after kitesurfing. A cheap and recommendable car rental company with a fleet of around 20 mid-range cars (Lancia Musa, Fiat Idea, Toyota Yaris, Fiat Punto Evo, Ford Fiesta, Citroen C3) in good, used condition picks up customers from the airport and brings them to the rental.
