You can reach KBC Holland in about 2 1/2 hours by car from the Ruhr area or in only 1 hour from Amsterdam – ideal for your short holiday by the sea. No other kitesurfing or wingfoil spot is quicker. A huge standing area awaits you, ideal for beginners and interesting for advanced riders. You will learn safely with our VDWS-certified team of instructors - with tried-and-tested methods, top F-ONE equipment and lots of fun. The proximity to the North Sea guarantees you a good wind yield.
Pupils, trainees and students with ID receive a 10% discount.

Kitesurfing courses and kite rental start at our school at the Welgelegen campsite in Workum.

Both campsites are only a 5-minute drive from each other, so you can choose the campsite you prefer. In the evening there is always something going on in the cozy Welgelegen Bar in Workum.

Experience an unforgettable adventure at the 3-day Girls' Kitesurfing Camp! In a supportive and inspiring atmosphere, girls and women will learn all the basics of kitesurfing – from theory to practice on the water. The intensive KBC Kite Camp successfully gets beginners on the board and helps intermediates progress confidently. Participants are divided according to their experience, allowing small groups (4-6 students) to focus on their individual skill levels. Also suitable for teenagers aged 14 and above.

Kitesurf Beginner Course
In the basic course you learn the theoretical basics and train the important elements of kitesurfing in a learning group of 2-6 persons. In the Kitecamp you learn intensively with even more practice time.

We will meet on your first day of rental at 9:30 am to register at the kite school on the campsite Welgelegen. Around 10 am we will go to the kitespot together. You kite with the lessons at the same spot and can change the material if conditions change, when a kite instructor is on land. You can also kite at a spot of your choice. We will hand out the material to you at the center before 10 am. However, this will eliminate the possibility to change the material. You will find hand pumps at the spot.

At KBC, you can rent the latest kitesurfing gear from F-ONE. Reserve in advance, and you’ll always have the perfect equipment, even if you need to change multiple times a day.

Kitesurf beach & spot
You learn safely in the standing area in water with maximum hip depth and soft ground: 1100 square kilometres of the finest flat water slope! The Ijsselmeer is the most wind-resistant inland sea in Central Europe with an almost endless shallow water area. Big advantage of this spot: There is no wind direction that is not kiteable.
To make your first kitesurfing experiences unforgettable and safe, we train at one of our three nearby house spots: Hindeloopen, Mirns or Workum. Our mobile strategy guarantees you stable Ijsselmeer wind always from the optimal wind direction. We choose the spot where it is not too crowded. On all beaches we can set up the equipment directly on the water.

KBC Holland now has two schools located directly on the IJsselmeer. The centers are only a 5-minute drive apart. Depending on whether you want to kitesurf, wingfoil, or rent equipment, you’ll find us at the respective location:
Kite school
KBC Holland is situated directly on the campsite Welgelegen in Workum. Here you can find our office, shop, rental and kite school. You can stay directly on the campsite in tents, in rustic wooden cabins, in a tree house, in a caravan or in a comfortable Bed&Breakfast. The Kitesurf private training starts at the Wingfoil School in Hindeloopen.
You start on your first course/rental day at 9:30 am to register at the center. We start punctually at 10am. From 9.30 a.m. on a warm coffee will be ready for you. You will be equipped with a wetsuit, neoprene shoes and trapeze. Depending on the wind direction we decide which kitespot we will meet. You drive with your own car. With our bus we are at the spot and have the equipment ready for you.
You will recognise our kite instructors in the water by their blue neoprene jackets with KBC logo and on land by their dark grey KBC hoodies.

Wingfoil School

The KBC Wingfoil School is located at the Hindeloopen campsite. Here you will find the office, shop, Wingfoil rental, and our Wingfoil school. On your first course/rental day, you will start at 9:30 am to register at the station, where a warm coffee will be ready for you. We begin promptly at 10 am. The theory session takes place directly at the center in our Wingfoil school. You will be equipped with a wetsuit. Depending on the wind direction, we will decide at which Wingfoil spot we will teach. It is best to drive there with your own car. With our bus, we will be at the spot and prepare the equipment for you.

VDWS-licence
The KBC Holland is a VDWS certified water sports school. During your course you can take the VDWS exam (not included). Your instructor will test your theoretical knowledge, assess your riding skills and determine your riding level. You will receive your VDWS-licence. This licence makes it easier for you to rent equipment at other centres.
To rent equipment, you should have a VDWS licence with level 3 (or more). If you don't have a license yet, you can take the exam at our center. We train kite instructors, only employ kite instructors with VDWS licence and train according to VDWS standards.

You can hire wetsuits and harnesses at KBC. But if you prefer to have your own equipment, you'll find a great selection of wetsuits, shoes and harnesses in the KBC online shop. With your KBC Friends Card you get a discount in the shop.

In addition to ideal conditions for kitesurfing, KBC Holland offers a wide range of activities:
- SUP tours - sporty and suitable for families: exploration tours through the canals around the kite station. Rent our SUPs by the hour or join our tour to the Pancake House.
- Wakeboarding in Sneek (22 minutes away by car)
- Cycling and exploring the surroundings with bikes from the campsite's bike rental, to possible destinations:
- Pitch & Putt: an easy variation of golf that is fun, only 4 minutes away by car in Koudum
- The idyllic port of Hindeloopen with traditional flat-bottomed ships
- The Cheese Dairy Nylander: exciting and delicious, only 1km from the kite school
- The Casemate Museum Kornwederzand on the closing dike
- Art in Workum at the Jopie Huisman Museum
- Atmosphere in the evening and campfire romance at the cosy barbecue area on the Welgelegen campsite

Drinks & Food
If you stay at the Welgelegen campsite and have reserved breakfast in advance, your day will start with a delicious breakfast at the Welgelegen campsite (12,50€).
Please bring your lunch snack and drinks with you. If we are at the kitespot in Mirns, you can buy soup, strammen max, fries and waffles in the café "Mirnser Klif".
In the evening we recommend a meal at the campsite: on Saturday you can enjoy delicious food from the grill (grill & chill for 17,50€ incl. one drink) on all other days crispy pizza from the wood oven.

Party & Events
Every Saturday Cobie invites you to barbecue and chill out at the Welgelegen campsite: For 17,50€ you get a delicious barbecue plate (vegetarian if you wish), a rich cold buffet and a drink. More drinks can be bought at the bar. After the barbecue we sit around the campfire. Bring your guitar with you!
Cobies Bar on the campsite is open every evening. This is the meeting point for all kiters after a fulfilling kite day. There is delicious wood oven pizza.

Wind & weather
Wind Statistic
The Ijsselmeer is one of the most wind-resistant inland seas in Northern Europe with an average wind probability of over 50%. It impresses with its huge standing areas with lots of space. Depending on the wind direction we train at one of our three nearby spots. Our mobile strategy guarantees you the stable Ijsselmeer wind always from the right direction. There is space on all beaches, so we can always set up the equipment directly on the water. Even if insensitive people go out on the water in summer only with board shorts, we always recommend a long wetsuit.

Visit us
We recommend that you arrive by private car. With public transport it is unfortunately not so easy and takes at least twice as long.
Arrival from southern and western Germany: Take the A3 towards Arnhem. After Arnhem follow the A50 in the direction of Appeldorn. The A50 becomes the N50 and the A6. Leave the motorway at the Lemmer exit and take the N 359 towards Bolsward. You will pass through Lemmer, Balk and Koudum. Then you turn left towards Hindeloopen. After 100 meters you will find the street "Lange Leane": Turn off. On the left hand side is already the destination: KBC/Camping Welgelegen. Continuing on, you will reach our center in Hindeloopen.
Coming from Northern Germany Hamburg - Bremen - Oldenburg: Take the A28 towards Leer E35, N7 towards Groningen, follow the A7 via Herrenveen to Lemmer. Leave the motorway there and follow the N359 towards Balk Stavoren, Koudum until you see a sign for Hindeloopen. Then turn left towards Hindeloopen. Immediately after 100 meters turn left into the street "Lange Leane". KBC/Camping Welgelegen is on the left-hand side. Continuing on, you will reach our center in Hindeloopen.

At "Welgelegen," you can stay in a Bed & Breakfast or on the campsite surrounding the restored former farmhouse. Choose from comfortable rooms, wooden cabins, and a variety of accommodations on the campsite. There’s always something going on here: at the pool, in the yoga studio, at the bar, or at the barbecue area. We especially recommend this family-friendly holiday park for groups.

At the "Camping Hindeloopen" campsite, you stay right behind the dike in Hindeloopen. Choose from a pitch, mobile homes, bungalows, or wooden cabins on the campsite. In addition to water sports, you can play tennis, go SUPing on the canals, and there’s a large playground and football field for children.
Our Wingfoil school is located here – this is where the wingfoil courses, wingfoil rental, and kitesurfing individual training begin.
