We answer your questions

When and where does the course start?

Unless otherwise agreed, it always starts at 10 a.m. on the first scheduled day.

Where? That depends on what you've booked! We have two locations on the IJsselmeer: the Kitesurf School at Camping Welgelegen in Workum and the Wingfoil School at Camping Hindeloopen, located directly behind the dike.

> If you’ve booked a kitesurf course or kite rental, head to our Kitesurf School at the Campsite Welgelegen in Workum.

> If you’ve booked a wingfoil course, kite private training, or wingfoil rental, head to our Wingfoil School at the Campsite Hindeloopen directly behind the dike.

Will I starve to death during the course?

If you have a constantly growling stomach you should take a small lunch box with you in the morning. Otherwise, at every spot we visit there is the possibility to buy drinks, snacks or even small meals. After the course there is delicious food at the Welgelegen campsite.

My partner is not kiting. Does he/she have to be bored?

Even as a non-kiter the stay at our school in Holland is anything but boring. From bike and boat tours, SUP excursions and training courses to specially organised wakeboard sessions.

Do you actually know what you are doing?

The Kiteboarding-Club looks back on more than a decade of training experience in kitesurfing. Our instructors are all VDWS licensed. Many members of our team are also studied sports scientists.

What if there is no wind?

If there is indeed not enough wind to carry out your training, you will receive a credit note from us for the course you booked. The special thing about this credit note: You can also redeem the value of unused services at all our other centers.

Do all employees speak English?

The majority of our team consists of German teachers who also speak English. We also offer courses in Dutch (please inquire in advance).

Where do I have to appear and when on my training day?

We meet on your training day at 10 am at the kite school on the campsite. For those who arrive a little earlier, a warm coffee or tea is available from 9.30 am. From here we start together.

How does it work with the equipment rental?

On the day of your equipment rental we meet at 10 am at the kite school on the campsite Welgelegen. After registration we will hand out your kite material, which has to be returned to us at the kite school after 7 pm.

What if my rented kite is too small or too big due to changing wind?

It is possible to change the equipment during the day due to changing wind conditions, but of course only if the shared training spot is used.

Can I park with you/ Can I bring my motorhome?

Your car can be parked free of charge at the Welgelegen campsite car park. Of course you can also park your car directly on the rented spot/ at the wooden hut. At the wingfoil school school at campsite hindeloopen, you can park on the parking.

What are our opening hours?

KBC Holland is open every day during the high season. During the course hours you can find us at the appropriate training location. Where to find us in detail

How long does the course last?

All courses are scheduled to last until about 18h. Depending on wind conditions, a longer course time until sunset or an earlier end of the course is also possible. Should you wish to leave early, please discuss this with your kite instructor in advance.

My desired date is fully booked, what can I do?

Please choose another date. If you would like to participate with more than one person, you can also contact us; we will gladly try to arrange an additional date for you.

We are a group and would like to have our own kite course! Is that possible?

Yes, for groups we will be happy to set up a separate date for you. Just send us a message and we will plan your desired course together with you.

What do I need to bring with me?

The course fee includes everything you need for the course (neoprene, harness and latest kite equipment). If you have your own wetsuit, shoes or a harness, you are welcome to bring them with you. Have a look at the checklist, there we have listed all necessary things.

Can I learn kitesurfing without surfing experience?

Yes, surfing can help you to learn everything a bit faster, but you don't have to. The courses are designed so that everyone can take part, regardless of experience and age.

Can children also take a kite course?

In general, yes. But it's a question of strength and weight whether a course makes sense. Experience shows that the threshold is about 12 years, but this age is only a guideline. We can discuss the suitability for younger children in advance with you and your child in individual cases.

Is kitesurfing dangerous?

Not really! If you follow the rules of sensible kitesurfing, you are on the safe side. If you follow the safety rules given in the VDWS-licence, kitesurfing is not dangerous. But to learn the sport, a professional course must be completed.
