We answer your questions about kitesurfing and wingfoiling at KBC Holland.

When and where does the course start?

Unless otherwise agreed, we will meet at 9:30 a.m. on the first day of the course. The course starts promptly at 10 a.m.

All windsurfing, kitesurfing, and wingfoiling courses start at the Hindeloopen campsite directly behind the dike.

Can I participate without any previous experience?

Yes. Our courses are specially designed for beginners. Experience in board sports can help, but is not a prerequisite. We will introduce you to the sport step by step.

How large are the groups in the courses?

We deliberately work in small groups so that each participant gets enough time with the equipment. Safety, clarity, and personal coaching are our top priorities.

How long does a course day last?

Scheduled until around 6 p.m. Depending on the wind, the day may end earlier or be extended until sunset. Since we work depending on the wind, you should not plan any other appointments on your course day if possible.

What requirements do I need to meet for a course?

You should be able to swim and have a normal level of fitness. No special strength or previous experience is necessary. What is important is motivation, attention, and a desire to learn.

How quickly can you learn kitesurfing?

This varies from person to person and depends on the wind, concentration, and any previous board sports experience. Many participants manage their first longer rides after several days of lessons. Our goal is to get you out on the water safely and in a controlled manner.

Why is the IJsselmeer a good spot for learning?

The IJsselmeer offers plenty of space, often constant wind conditions, and large standing areas. This combination makes it easier for beginners to learn and also allows for advanced training.

What happens if there is no wind?

If there is indeed insufficient wind, you will receive a credit for the unused services. You can also redeem this credit at all other KBC World Centers worldwide.

Does the course still take place when it rains?

Rain alone is not a problem. The decisive factors are the wind and safety at the spot. In the event of thunderstorms or weather conditions that affect safety, we will pause the lessons.

Can I bring my own kite or wing?

Yes, you are welcome to use your own equipment. Our instructors will check in advance whether your equipment is suitable for your level and the current conditions.

Which licensing systems are used?

Training is based on the VDWS standard. Depending on the course, you can have your level documented or purchase a corresponding license.

How cold is the water at the IJsselmeer?

Temperatures vary greatly depending on the season. In spring and fall, we recommend a thicker wetsuit. In summer, conditions are significantly warmer. We will provide you with the appropriate equipment.

Are there facilities such as showers or changing rooms?

Sanitary facilities, showers, and infrastructure are available at the campsite. After the course, you can change or relax on site.

Can I come along as an accompanying person?

Accompanying persons are always welcome. The lessons can be watched from the beach, while the surrounding area offers numerous leisure activities.

What is the difference between wingfoiling and kitesurfing?

In wingfoiling, you steer a wing directly with your hands, while in kitesurfing you fly a kite on a harness. Wingfoiling is often more intuitive to handle, while kitesurfing allows for higher speeds. You can learn both sports with us.

When are the best months for kitesurfing in Holland?

The season usually runs from spring to fall. Spring and fall are particularly windy, while summer offers pleasant temperatures and long days.

Is there an age limit for participation?

There is no fixed upper age limit. The decisive factors are fitness, motivation, and health requirements. Many adults discover the sport for themselves later in life.

Can I book a course spontaneously?

Spontaneous bookings are possible depending on availability. However, we recommend booking early, especially on windy weekends and during the holiday season.

Can I continue kitesurfing on my own after the course?

Our goal is to guide you step by step toward independence. Whether you can ride independently right away depends on your individual progress. After several days of lessons, many participants reach a level that allows them to practice independently.

Are photos or videos taken during the courses?

Occasionally, we take photos of our daily training activities for our social media channels. If you do not want to be photographed, please let us know in advance.
