Kitesurfing courses for children at New Spirit Dakhla

For children under the age of 14, we offer only one-on-one lessons—for maximum safety and the best learning experience. The teacher is completely focused on the child and can tailor the pace and exercises precisely to their needs. This keeps the fun, motivation, and concentration levels high—and progress comes almost automatically.

Shorter lessons and highly visual learning models make the training child-friendly.
The practical part focuses on safety and fun.

Choose between our 4-hour and 6-hour children's courses:
Younger children and children with no previous sporting experience (e.g., in stunt kite flying or board sports) should choose the 6-hour course.

Please note: Depending on the individual learning pace, it may be necessary for safety reasons that your child is not yet able to continue training independently after the course. In this case, we recommend additional practice sessions to consolidate the procedures and enable safe, independent training.

Training kids at KBC Dakhla

Starting age

When a child is ready to learn kitesurfing depends on the child's development and readiness. Good concentration, a good sense of body awareness and balance, and of course the desire to learn kitesurfing are required. It is also essential that the child is a confident swimmer. They should be able to float on the water for 15 minutes without any problems. When these requirements are met depends entirely on the individual child. In exceptional cases, an 8-year-old child may be able to meet them, but otherwise it is more likely to be a 10-year-old. We are happy to discuss this in advance by email, phone, or in person.

Special feature

Children's training is not the same as adult training, but differs fundamentally in terms of equipment, methodology, and requirements for the area:

Equipment

Kitesurfing lessons for children are conducted with equipment specially designed for children, i.e., small, balanced kites, small bars and small boards, and small, comfortable harnesses. Weight plays a role in the choice of equipment.

Method

The teaching model must also be tailored to children in general, but also to the child's specific stage of development (ability to concentrate, physical condition). This means shorter lessons and very visual learning models in the training theory. In the practical part, safety and fun are paramount: we only teach children in individual lessons to guarantee maximum safety for our young kite students. The kite instructor's attention is 100% focused on the child. This allows the learning pace to be optimally adapted to the child, which promotes and prolongs the child's interest and ability to concentrate. The second, very important aspect of the practical part is fun, which must be conveyed at all costs. This is the only way to ensure a joyful introduction to the new sport. Experience shows that children learn very quickly, which, thanks to the safety and fun of the KBC course, leads to lasting learning success. The KBC teaching team is specially trained to teach children.

The area

The kitesurfing area plays a crucial role. The water should be pleasantly warm, as children tend to feel the cold more quickly: in thick neoprene, the water temperature should not be colder than 18°C, but preferably warmer. The ground should be sandy or loamy, and under no circumstances stony, to avoid injuries. The wind should be stable and not gusty. Wind strengths of 11 to 16 knots are ideal. The water should be smooth and not wavy.

Our learning areas in Dakhla offer very good conditions for teaching children.
