We deliberately only teach children under the age of 14 in one-to-one lessons. This allows the teacher to focus 100% on the child and tailor the pace and content perfectly – which greatly increases motivation, attention, and learning success.
Short sessions and highly illustrative learning models make the lessons child-friendly and easy to understand. On the water, safety and enjoyment of exercise always come first.
Kids Wingfoil Course
3h kids wingfoil course (from 8 years) over 2–3 days
For safety reasons, the lessons take place in one-to-one private instruction and can be divided into 2 days of 1.5 hours each or 3 days of 1 hour each.
The children’s training starts on the first day with a short theory session, a spot check, setting up and packing down the wing, and first flying exercises on the beach. If scheduled over 2 days, you go straight onto the water afterwards. If scheduled over 3 days, the water session starts on the second day. In the water, exercises are practiced with the wing and the board.
Please note: Depending on individual learning speeds, it may be necessary for safety reasons that your child is not yet able to continue training independently after the course. In this case, we recommend additional practice sessions to consolidate the procedures and enable safe, independent training.

Starting age
When children can start learning wingfoiling depends less on their age than on their personal development. The important factors are concentration, coordination, and balance—and, above all, the motivation to try a new type of water sports. Another prerequisite is confident swimming: the child should be able to stay afloat independently for at least 15 minutes.
The advantage of wingfoiling is that it requires significantly less strength than kitesurfing. There is no kite in the sky that you have to constantly concentrate on. The wing is held directly in your hands and can be easily let go at any time. This makes getting started more controlled and safer, which is why some children can start as early as around 8 years old. We are happy to advise you in advance by phone, email, or directly on site.
Special feature
Children's lessons differ fundamentally from lessons for adults – in terms of equipment, methodology, and the requirements of the area.
Equipment
In our lessons, we use equipment specially selected for children: light, small wings that are easy to grip and control, wide boards with plenty of volume for a secure footing, and adapted foils with a wing area suitable for children. We always take the child's body weight into account.
We start without a foil on a large board. This allows the children to first learn how to handle the wing safely and steer before gradually (depending on the individual pace of the course) switching to the foilboard.
Methodology
The teaching method is also adapted to children – and additionally to the individual development level of the child (concentration, endurance, balance). That's why we work with shorter lessons and very clear explanations.
On the water, safety and enjoyment of the sport are our top priorities. We only teach children in one-to-one lessons. This allows the instructor to focus 100% on the child and adjust the pace and content at any time. This significantly promotes motivation, attention, and learning success.
Another key point is fun: only when children have positive experiences will they develop a genuine enthusiasm for the sport. Experience shows that children learn very quickly – often even faster with wingfoiling than with kitesurfing, as the movements are more intuitive and the wing provides direct feedback. Our KBC team is specially trained to teach children.
The spot
The conditions at the spot are crucial for successful children's training. The water should not be too cold, as children cool down more quickly – temperatures of around 18 °C in a wetsuit are ideal. A sandy surface is important to avoid injuries, as children often fall off the board into the water at first.
The wind also plays a major role: it should be constant and not gusty. Children need less wind for wingfoiling than for kitesurfing – around 10–15 knots already offer very good learning conditions. Flat water also makes the first attempts at foiling easier.
At Brouwersdam, we find very good conditions for giving children a safe and motivating introduction to wingfoiling as beginners.
